Visual and Creative Thinking
Last week I had the opportunity to present my Visual and Creative Thinking presentation for the gang up at Refresh BCS (that’s Bryan College Station for those not from Texas). It’s one of my favorite topics to talk about so I always have a blast when I do it. That raises a really good question - a question all presenters should ask themselves. “Did the audience have a blast too?” Lot’s of times when people get up to speak to an audience they see it only as an opportunity to talk about themselves, their company or their products. In my case, I always feel so much better about a presentation when I feel like the audience really took something memorable away from it. You can see the slides for the presentation on Slideshare. Enjoy!
P.S. It just so happens that John Moore (an awesome speaker in his own right) wrote a really good post about this topic called Eureka! It’s Performing, Not Presenting.

Kelsey!
I kind of backed into this blog posting. I found your slides on slideshare.net first. I have spend way more time than I should looking for well designed presentations on there and yours ranks right at the top! Wow way to go! I love it when people get it. That just because you have the mic or are standing at the front of the room does not mean you get to bore people! Two things that really get me is when people fill powerpoint with bullet points or text (I’m like why are you even here, let me just read!). I also hate when people don’t consider that the reason they are there is for the audience. It’s about them! Great job in highlighting that!
I would love to get to know about poplabs more. There are a couple of us up here in Wisconsin that have some ideas floating around that you might be able to help us with. I don’t know but lets talk! Shoot me a line if you would.
I stand and applaud keep up the great work!

“Did the audience have a blast too?” — that’s exactly the right question to be asking!
Having just looked at your slide show I would imagine your audience roared “Yes” to this question.
Keep creating…a daring adventure,
Mike
