Last week, I had the chance to present at the Houston Technology Center’s educational series, Web Based Startup School, for startup entrepreneurs and companies that live on the internet. The topic was SEO mistakes that I think are absolutely inexcusable to make. I ended up talking about way more than five of course. I then reviewed a startup website owned by an entrepreneur in the audience. Overall, it was an interactive session with quite a few questions from the audience. The feedback I got was great. The new Pop Labs website has been up for less then two weeks and it’s already being listed in a number of design showcases. Within a day of the new design, the ModxCMS website had it listed on their showcase. It currently has 353 views and is the 2nd top-rated site in the Modx Showcase with a rating of 8.8 out of ten.

Last night, thanks to Andy on Twitter, we learned the the new site was featured on Sprye Studios’ “50 Kick-Ass And Creative Dark Website Designs.”  Along with being featured on this list of “kick-ass” websites, the article was submitted to Digg and is currently working its way up.
