Twit Pitch 2010 Winners Announced!

On April 17th, Pop Labs was honored to be a guest and a sponsor for the Rice Alliance Business Plan Competition 2010. Over 40 teams competed for the chance to win more than $1 million dollars in cash and prizes from local and national sponsors.

Pop Labs’ Gene McCubbin, Audra Jackson, Victoria Rabin, and Stephanie Elsy judged the Twit Pitch portion, where contestants were challenged to develop a marketing pitch in 140 characters or less. The top 3 winners were awarded with a cash prize and services equaling $15,000 each.

The winners and their tweets in order of prize amount:

First Place: PCCA Technologies, Inc., Carnegie Mellon University – $16,400
“Diabetes is a real prick! Not anymore- Releyent contact lens; a shared vision for your glucose monitoring. 10 X return in a blink of an eye.”

Second Place: Digital Proctor, University of Texas-Austin – $15,140
“How can you really know who typed this message? Use @digitalproctor. 2 customers, $100K revenue, 4 patents, eye popping demo = huge #ROI.”

Third Place: BelliSwap, University of Chicago – $15,014
“Would U pay big $$ on clothes that fit for 3-6 months MAX? Pregnant women shouldn’t have to either. Maternity wear for rent at BelliSwap.com”

Congratulations to all winners and we hope to see an even bigger turnout at next year’s competition.
