It’s that time of the year again. And no, I’m not talking about the holidays (which, undeniably, are quickly approaching). AIR season has come once more, and with the help of our friends over at Knowbility, Pop Labs is again given the opportunity to be two lucky non-profit organizations’ interactive media Santa Clauses.
Originating from right here in Houston, the Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) is an award-winning, Website building competition held each year all around the country. The purpose of this competition is to train professional web developers in the ever-evolving field of web accessibility as well as raise awareness of accessibility’s importance. Pop Labs has brought home multiple awards in past years of participating and is excited about getting the chance to do so once again.
This year, Pop Labs is sending two teams to Rally Day, “Dirty Pop” (paying homage to our good friends *NSYNC) and “Pop Rocks” (because we like the candy… and we kind of do rock =P). We have been paired with two amazing organizations, the Clayton Library Friends and Ms. Wheelchair America, with whom we have been given the privilege to build two brand new sites!
A HUGE thank you to these awesome organizations as well as to Knowbility for giving us the chance to participate again this year. We also wish “Best of Luck!” to the other teams participating. See ya on Rally Day!

A few weeks ago we unveiled the some ideas for the new Westchase Technology Center. We’re still interested in your thoughts on opening a Coffee Groundz location plus a co-working space in the Westchase District, so leave your comments there or here.
Over the past few weeks, a dedicated team here at the Labs have worked on the new website for the building. We’re proud to announce the new site is up and running! Check it out at www.westchase-techcenter.com. If you’re interested in leasing information for the Westchase Technology Center please contact us via the website.
We look forward to expanding the technology hub in our area and hope you all enjoy the new website.

Pop Labs moved into our own building back in December of 2008. Since then we’ve made our office space a fun environment for our staff. As we expand our own facilities we look to occupy the available space outside of Pop Labs.
Over the last few months we’ve been in exciting conversations with a local coffee shop, Coffee Groundz. If you’re not familiar with their success story, you should definitely take the time to read up on them. Our idea is use our available space (up to 10,000 sq. ft. contiguous space) for a new Coffee Groundz location plus a Co-Working space!
Our goal is have a venue for events, promotional galleries for local artists and musicians and of course provide the outstanding service that comes with Coffee Groundz! In addition to having Coffee Groundz in the Westchase District, we also want to provide a co-working space for our tech-community work & play.
We have a large and very loyal community here in Houston and we’d like to encourage you to share your thoughts on these ideas and suggest any you may have. Thanks! And we look forward to hearing from you. (more…)
